BUT I'M FEELIN' TWENTY-TWO
I apologize already for that shameless Taylor Swift reference. It may be overused, but THERE IT IS.
Day 39: BIRDIE
None of my roommates had my actual birthday off except one, but her family was visiting, so because most of them were working the evening shift they decided we should go out the evening before! After I got off work on the 4th we all started getting ready and picking out clothes as everyone arrived home from their shifts. My roommates played fashion show with all of their outfits before we raided each closet attempting to find an outfit for me. Because I flew here, my selection of clothing is pretty limited, so I ended up in Maddie's shirt and earrings and Morgan's skirt, so I was very grateful at that moment for fashionable roommates who are semi-close to my size.
Maddie, Morgan, Lisa, Nicole, Laurel, Laura
(P.S. We're the ladies on the cover of Bridesmaids. Just FYI.)
We went to House of Blues in Downtown Disney because cast members get in free on Wednesdays, but what we didn't know was that it wasn't until 11, and then they still didn't even let us in until 11:15, at which point we were all uncomfortably hot and my feet were already done for the evening. When we did get in it was pretty empty. Everyone there was, for the most part, a 35-year-old business man, so that was strange. Then all the CPs arrived and it was just a big icky dance party. I will not lie, I did not want to go to House of Blues. I don't like bars, I especially don't like bars that are really clubs, and it has a reputation for being a great place to get your wallet stolen. I was hoping to go somewhere else, but this evening wasn't just about me, it was about the roommates! And I wanted them to have fun. That said, it was actually a really fun experience being out with them and going to a Florida club, and while it was a good time, it was a good time because of my roommates, and I can now confidently say I shan't return. Clubs just ain't my thing.
Now the next morning was my actual birthday, so I slept in nice and late before my work friend Daisy came to pick me up to go to Magic Kingdom! We got there sometime around 2:30 and the first thing we did (after getting Dole Whips of course because it was sweltering) was Splash Mountain just as the 3 o'clock parade was starting. We got mildly sprayed with water, so then we went next door to Big Thunder Mountain to dry off, and we were right in front! By the time we got on, the line was down to exactly zero people because of the parade, so when we got off we whipped right back into line as the parade was ending. It was perfect timing. We barely made it in before the rush, got in another ride, and then went over to Pecos Bill for a late lunch. I don't have any pictures of Pecos Bill, which I should because it is my absolute favorite place to eat at MK. It's over in Frontierland and I always order the vegetable burger with fries. When they serve it to you it's seriously just a patty and a bun, and the first time I went I was really confused. Then I found the condiments bar. You get to go over and add all your own toppings, which include lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, and hot cheese. It's the most amazing place on earth. I usually cover my fries in the cheese and onions too.
After Pecos we made our way back toward the castle where we ran into my PhotoPass roommate Morgan!
This button got me a solid twenty happy birthdays
After chatting with Schmorgie for a minute we went over to Tomorrowland and rode Space Mountain. As much as I am a diehard rollercoaster fan, I'm not big on Space Mountain. I'm really tall and it's so dark, I just always feel as though I'm about to be decapitated. But I still went on it. And I ended up in front. Space Mountain is already scary for me, but the front was terrifying. I was practically hallucinating and I kept thinking there were people running in front of our rapidly moving car.
SPEAKING OF FAMILY, when I got home that evening my roommates surprised me with strawberries and angel food cake, and then they surrounded me as I opened all the lovely presents my family sent while I skyped their beautiful faces!
It was a very happy birthday so here is a giant thank you to all the people who were part of it! THANK YOU.
Day 40: EPCOT
The day after my birthday Laura and I went to EPCOT for the Flower & Garden Festival where we met up with Daisy again! We did Spaceship Earth first because I'm in love with it, then wandered around the World Showcase, Canada first. We did the O Canada circle vision film right away, which Daisy had never seen. Nothing makes me want to move to Canada more than that movie. After that we stopped in France for a picture with my favorite pair.
I got falafel in Morocco, Laura got sushi in Japan, we watched the Great American Adventure in America, I got my favorite caramel chewy bar in Germany, and we rode the Three Caballeros ride in Mexico. I'm collecting pressed pennies from each country, but I need to do them in the order the countries occur, so I'm starting with Mexico and I got two after our ride! Then we went to The Seas to sea our roommate Maddie and watch Turtle Talk. I'd never been to Turtle Talk, but I heard it was similar to the Laugh Floor, which I LOVE, so my hopes were high. It wasn't as magical as I wanted it to be, but fortunately Turtle Talk is different every time you go, so I shall be returning. We stopped in a few gift shops looking for our favorite pins and merchandise and ducked out before the fireworks show could end.
